Make Music Day 2017!

Calling all performers, live music venues and volunteers! Make Music Day UK is coming on Wed 21 June.

Make Music Day is an international celebration which first started in France in 1982 and now takes place in over 120 countries and 750 cities across the world. Make Music Day UK aims to turn the country into a stage, and offer a full spectrum of performers the opportunity to display their musical skills.

Make Music Day UK is a free day of music held in public spaces, from squares to libraries, bandstands to school halls and arts centres, held on the summer solstice, 21 June. We have spaces crying out for performers in Norwich, Nottingham, West Midlands, London, Edinburgh, Somerset, Doncaster and York, with new ones being added all the time. They range from bandstands to shopping centres, music libraries to city squares, branches of Caffè Nero, Fuller's pubs and four spaces in London Bridge station.

If you would like to perform, or run a group that may be interested in performing, find out more and sign up by visiting the Make Music UK website.

We are also interested in hearing from venues who can host performances on 21 June. If you are already hosting a music event on this date, we hope you can tie it in to Make Music Day by listing it, free of charge, in our diary of events. Visit our website to get involved.

An event can be anything, from a concert to a pop-up event in a local park, an instrument taster session or something as simple as an open rehearsal or jam session - anything goes, as long as it's free, musical and fun!

Make Music Day UK is open to music makers of all ages, skill levels, and musical persuasions.

Bring Me Sunshine

This year, Make Music Day has an official song! Bring Me Sunshine, the classic hit made famous by Morecambe and Wise has been made fully available by publishers Music Sales. Download our free arrangements of Bring Me Sunshine and get cracking on your performance. If none of these versions work for your group, why not write your own?

Making Music and Music For All are leading on this project, with funding from Arts Council England and support from Classic FM, Musicians' Union and Music Sales.
