Music in Pupil Referral Units Summit, 24th November 2017, Somerset

Call out for presentations deadline 14th May 2017

Take Art and Actiontrack Performance Company have been delivering a music workshop programme in 10 Somerset PRU settings across the county as well as with vulnerable young adults and Looked After Children since 2012. Over this period we have work with over 150 young people over a sustained period of time. This activity has taken place in centres and at Actiontrack's recording studio in group and one-to-one settings.  This work has been generously supported by Youth Music and local funders including Sound Foundation Somerset (Somerset Music Education Hub), Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and the Taunton Maid Bursary Trust

To celebrate this work and to provide a meeting point for those engaged in work of a similar nature, Take Art and Actiontrack are hosting a one day summit in Somerset on Friday 24th November 2018 to share effective practice working with music with students attending Pupil Referral Units. We wish to make space on the day for presentations on:   1. Practical Delivery Programmes by Music Agencies/Individuals working with Children and Young People Attending PRUs (15 minute workshop presentation followed by Q&A).   2. Strategic Approaches by Music Education Hubs, Youth Music Action Zone style organisations and/or other Strategic funders and delivers of music work with Children and Young People Attending PRUs (15 minute plenary presentation).   For those interested in making a presentation, please send a summary along with your contact details to Ralph Lister, Executive Director, Take Art, Somerset via ralph@takeart.org by 14th May 2017. We are interested to hear from those working in the south west as well as other English regions. Somerset is a rural county and we would also be interested to compare and contrast the Somerset programme with the rural and urban examples. We are unable to offer a fee for presentations but can cover out of pocket expenses.
