Wingbeats November 2016

In November 2016 LIME Music for Health delivered a Conference called 'Wingbeats' designed to celebrate the work of LIME Music for Health, share an exchange of knowledge and explore current best practice in the field of Music for Health.

On Thursday 17th November, LIME Music for Health delivered the first in a series of three annual conferences called Wingbeats; designed to celebrate the work of the LIME Music for Health team, share an exchange of knowledge and explore current best practice in the field of Music for Health. The sold-out conference which took place at Ronald McDonald House, commenced with a keynote speech by Dr Peter-Marc Fortune, Consultant Paediatric Intensivist & Associate Clinical Head at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and Director of Resuscitation & Simulation Services at CMFT.

Throughout the rest of the day, there was a range of presentations and panel discussions led by the Music for Health team, featuring a variety of guest speakers from Paediatric Consultants and a play specialist at RMCH, Mother of a patient, a medical student who has recently undertaken training with LIME Music for Health and the Director of  Earlyarts, who is an expert in early years. This range of knowledge, viewpoints and professional expertise provided stimulating debate and a unique perspective on the tremendous benefits of using music in a healthcare setting. The event was attended by a diverse range of delegates; healthcare professionals, musicians and leaders in the Music for Health sector. The conference ended with the celebration of the launch of a recent Research Report undertaken by Salford University with LIME Music for Health. Some of the very positive comments taken from the day include; "The presentations were very engaging and I got a really clear overview of how the different elements of the current programme work in different settings. Good amount of time for discussion and a good range of speakers too. I loved hearing Holly play and hearing about how she is developing work in response to a challenging environment" and "I enjoyed all the sessions I attended, very inspiring".
