Aspiring Young Musicians Short Courses - Autumn 2018

ENROL NOW for this Autumn's 11-16s music courses in MC/Spoken Word, Keyboard Skills for Songwriting and Music Production.

MC/spoken word is taught by hip hop MC, spoken word artist and author, MC Angel. Discover your skills for MC or rap and learn how to work with live instruments, backing tracks and develop your spoken word composition and performance skills. Rhythm and poetry, combined with a confident delivery will empower you to inspire and impress. Powerful words form emotional connections and you’ll be encouraged to create thought provoking material to captivate your audience.

Start your music production from a bedroom setup, to the studio, to live performance, Ableton Live will open up a world of possibilities for your musical ideas. We’ll teach you how to build a track using Ableton’s versatile layout. We will take you on a creative journey of arrangement, manipulating audio and making your own beats. By the end of the course, you’ll have practical and theoretical knowledge of Ableton Live, music production theory and how to create your own electronic music. This course is taught by Wayne Francis (aka Ahnansé) Saxophone/Keys for United Vibrations and session musician.

Keyboard skills for songwriting will introduce you to everything you need to invent the chords and sequences, bass lines and melodies used in the music you enjoy listening to. In this course, you will collaborate with vocal and music production students, contributing chords and melodies to recordings and live performances of original music. The course is led by Roger Baptiste, an experienced session and events pianist, music director and educator with the enthusiasm to inspire you to create and perform.
