Rhythm Up-Half Term Holiday Programme October 2018

In October half term we were so excited to run our first Word Forward holiday programme called Rhythm Up. We were delighted to open this project up to young people in the local area. The young people worked collaboratively on developing their vocal skills and were able to learn and perform a song together which they then performed to parents at the end of the programme. The young people learned how use Logic pro software on this project, before making some fun beats and catchy lyrics to accompany them. The young people drew inspiration for their tracks from fairy tales, superhero’s and their favourite films. During the project the group visited the Unicorn Theatre to watch the performance On the Road. This was a show that included no dialogue and only used music, sound and movement to communicate its story and the emotions of its characters. For many of the young people it was their first experience of the theatre so to see a show which relied so heavily on music to communicate its content was exciting and assisted them with their tracks and performances.
