Building a vocal booth!

At Romsey Mill Hampton we have been running a music studio in the upstairs room of a church. Naturally this isn't the best recording environment for vocals and mixing so we decided to try and find some removeable solutions, due to the room also being hired out to other users. We quickly realized that nobody sells what we were looking for and that we were going to have to build our own!

I set to designing a vocal booth that would both allow enough room inside of it for young people to be comfortable, but also allow it to be folded away, or moved for mixing songs. We weren't expecting a fully sound proof booth but more just wanted to remove the rooms natural reverb so we had more control post recording.

With the help of one of our volunteers we put together the booth and the sound difference was massively noticeable between outside and inside which is perfect for what we wanted
