Instrument Seeking Musician

Hi, I’m the Fire Organ, but you can call me the Many-Headed Hydra of Flame if you like.

Hi, I’m the Fire Organ, but you can call me the Many-Headed Hydra of Flame if you like. I’m basically the mutant offspring of the Ruben’s tube and a traditional pipe organ. I respond to sound in a unique way because I represent it visually in the form of flames and motion.

I was born out of the collaboration between the international engineering firm Buro Happold and Guerilla Science. I’ve also had support from the Royal Academy of Engineers along the way, but throughout my short life I’ve always felt like something was missing. Will you be the musical genius to make my flames fly?

I’m looking for DJs, musicians, rappers, spoken word artists or any sort of audiophiles to submit original pieces of music that will make my flames want to dance and twirl at this summer’s Secret Garden Party festival. I don’t care what kind of musical genre you’re in to, I’m open to everything of course, but I react particularly well to long sustained notes, pumping beats, and heavy bass.

Your friends and the general public can vote for their favourite track on the SoundCloud page. The four tracks with the most public votes will go through to a judging panel with the music editor of i-D magazine, engineers and Guerilla scientists. The judges will select one overall winner who will win tickets to Secret Garden Party so we can meet in person, and you’ll get to see how cool your track looks when I play it at the festival.

Check out this website for more information about the music competition and how I work. It’s free to enter, just be sure to complete the registration form first. Also note that you have to be eighteen or older to apply, I’m very mature for my age so I need someone who can keep up.

So…

If you like music festivals, where you might get caught in the rain.

If you’re not into silence, you have something to gain.

If you like writing songs at midnight, or poetry to escape.

I’m the instrument you’ve looked for,  make sure you don't enter late.
