Kámoši Juniors - Celebrating International Roma Day.

To celebrate International Romani Day, on 9th April 2016 Community Arts North West’s Kámoši Juniors Saturday Morning Performing Arts Club performed in a special event called Hudba, Muzica, Music! The event included Music, Drama and Dance created and performed by the children.  The talent of Leigh’s young Musicians and Dancers shone as they presented old and new songs; and celebrated the past, present and future lives of Roma people.

Celebrating the past lives of Roma people, the Kámoši Juniors acted out the story of The Lost Country with confidence and passion, whilst a member of the group narrated. The present lives of Roma people were represented through the thought-provoking ‘Show me your I.D’ rap, a social commentary highlighting the issues facing Roma people in today’s multicultural Britain. The event was very celebratory and everyone had a great time.

Friends and family attending this very special event left some amazing feedback. The event was: “Excellent, the young people clearly enjoyed what they were presenting, an amazing variety of music, dance and drama. Well done!”, and it was “Full of colour and light, great family atmosphere”.

The children were extremely proud of the performance and their feedback included: “I can’t believe I done that” and “Can we do it again?”.

A short-film of the performance will soon be ready to view, but in the meantime please have a look at the photos
