Job description

SALARIED VOCAL TEACHER (PART TIME) – East Kent

£24,400 - £29,705 FTE (0.4 FTE minimum requirement) plus a pension contribution of 3% of salary

Kent Music is seeking dynamic and committed instrumental teachers to provide high quality music tuition to children, young people and adults across Kent.

Instruments and locations:

We are looking for a Vocal Teacher who can teach individual lessons, small groups, and potentially Music Plus whole class tuition. Candidates should be prepared to travel to work across East Kent at locations including the Dover, Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh areas.

The ideal candidate will also contribute to the development of programmes at Music Centres as a vocal coach in a variety of styles, from art song and choral repertoire to popular idioms (including music theatre). They will be able to plan and lead creative work and ensembles, both vocal and instrumental or a mixture of the two.

The role will work with children across both primary and secondary years. A willingness to undertake online tuition is essential.

Our team of teachers work collectively to transform the teaching of musical instruments and singing in Kent, in both schools and music centres, to individuals, groups, classes and ensembles. This salaried position includes paid non-contact time for planning, preparation and assessment, CPD, and recruitment.

Our aim is that these roles will make a substantial change to the number of students learning to play and their progression into groups, choirs and ensembles. You will need to be motivated and passionate about music and the instrument you teach, with a proven track record of delivering high quality tuition, and a commitment to inclusive practice. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will engage positively with pupils, parents, teachers, school leaders and partners. Applications are particularly welcome from teachers who can teach more than one instrument.
