Next steps for Additional Learning Needs provisions in Wales

Morning, Tuesday, 18th July 2017

Central Cardiff

THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED

Guests of Honour

Tania Nicholson, Head of ALN Legislative Programme, Welsh Government

Charlie Thomas, Head of ALN Transformation, Welsh Government

This seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss the future of Additional Learning Needs (ALN) provision in Wales.

It is timed as the Welsh Government undertakes its Additional Learning Needs Transformation programme, which aims to create a unified system for supporting learners from 0 to 25 with ALN, and is underpinned by the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Bill introduced to the National Assembly for Wales in December 2016.

Delegates will discuss the implementation of the transformation programme which places an increased focus on early identification, changes all references to SEN to ALN, sees the creation of an individualised plan for each young person with ALN, and simplifies the dispute resolution system.
