New Wave Youth Work

I believe that there is a generation of people who have had the opportunity to witness what i'd like to call "the golden years" of youth work, when cuts were never thought of, activities were always innovative and exciting due to a healthy budget, and above all, young people were happy with what they were offered..

I believe that there is a generation of people who have had the opportunity to witness what i'd like to call "the golden years" of youth work, when cuts were never thought of, activities were always innovative and exciting due to a healthy budget, and above all, young people were happy with what they were offered..

Now lets not get it twisted, there have obviously been a population of people who have used and abused the funding system for years, in order to fulfill their own personal financial gain and desires, and due to the lack of awareness in terms of CRB checks at one point, there have unfortunately been a few individuals allowed to worm their way into a place with the most vulnerable of children, with the most horrendous criminal records imaginable!

So now my notion is this, if we can have witnessed what it took to provide a fun, safe and enjoyable atmosphere for young people, (either through experience or organising) accompanied with the new policies, procedures and initiatives put in place to protect and serve young people now, should we not take it into our own hands to individually play our part. but with the eventual common goal of potentially creating a new system of youth work that the young people who need it most will benefit from?!

Well where there's a will there is definetly a way, which is why I take my hat of to organisations like The London Urban Arts Academy, for striving to provide the best quality arts related projects for young people, REGARDLESS of the wave of cuts that wiped away half of the youth work sector,

In terms of delivering arts related projects that the new generation of young people will learn to love and respect, feel free to discuss innovative ways in which we can benefit from one another's skills, knowledge and experience.
