Area Based Music Project

The Area Based Music Project funded by Youth Music and supported also by Derbyshire Music Education Hub has been taking place in venues across Derby and Derbyshire. Here is what has been happening at our Mackworth Studio.

The Area Based Music Project funded by Youth Music and supported also by Derbyshire Music Education Hub has been taking place in venues across Derby and Derbyshire.  The Baby People Mackworth Studio has released 3 project from young artists.

Luca Vincent - a 15 year old singer/songwriter and guitarist who came to the studio with alot of his own songs but had never had the chance to record and produce a record.  We produced a 5 track EP of his best songs.  100 copies were produced and given out at various performances he took part in over the 12 month period.

Kaz - a 14yr old South Asian artist from Mackworth came to the studio to learn to rap.  He learnt quickly and before long had a collection of high quality songs.  We produced an released a 5 track EP of his work which he has been selling to his peers and is reinvesting his profits in another release of his making.

Poppy Joyce - a 16 yr old pianist and songwriter was referred to the project by the local MAT team.  Poppy had never had the opportunity to record her own songs before attending the studio.   We worked with her on producing and releasing a 7 track CD of her best songs.   She has also performed at 2 Baby People events.  

Studio sessions are currently taking place at the following locations every week:

Monday 6-9pm Baby People Sinfin, Sinfin Children and Young People Centre, Sinfin Lane, Sinfin Moor, Derby, DE24 9PG

Thursday 6-9pm Baby People Chaddesdon, Derwent Youth & Community Centre, Monmouth Street, Derby, DE21 6BD

Thursday 6-9pm Baby People Mackworth, Mackworth Community Centre, Prince Charles Avenue, Mackworth, Derby, DE22 4FN.

Friday 6-9pm Baby People Normanton, Madeley Youth Centre, Madeley St, Derby DE23 8EX
