SoCo / UVG Song writing weekend

Through Music Revolution, SoCo Music Project and The UVG (Urban Vocal Group) brought together young people from different areas in a collaborative song writing project to share ideas and make new music. It was also an opportunity to develop relationships with other regional music organisations and to share best practice.

The aim was to support young people who were keen to develop their musical knowledge and take the next steps in their musical journey.  Over 2 days, singers from all 3 UVG’s together with budding songwriters from The Courthouse open access music clubs had the opportunity to work with professional musicians and songwriters on their own material.  The weekend was a fantastic success and resulted in several original compositions either completed or in progress.  All of the young musicians involved said that the course had either met or exceeded their expectations and that they were keen to do more. We plan to record the new material in the next couple of months but in the meantime here are a couple of interviews / demos from the weekend
