I'm Inclusive - Music Conference and Showcase.

The recent I’m Inclusive Music Conference and Showcase was a fantastic opportunity to bring together a wide range of inclusive music projects from the Yorkshire area.

Jointly hosted by NYMAZ and Accessible Arts and Media, the day offered an inclusive opportunity to enjoy and explore many of the local inclusion projects funded by Youth Music as well as the opportunity to improve skills in a series of professional development workshops. We also welcomed a wide variety of organisations in the Yorkshire/Humberside region who came along to talk about their work with young people.

The opening welcome from Dom Smith set the tone for a vibrant day of performances and workshops and from the very start all of our guests were challenged to make the most of the many training sessions, marketplace stalls and festival performances,

A visit to the Theremin Bollard demonstration? Attend Phil Mullen’s Working with Excluded Children Workshop? Join in with Music and the Deaf’s  Yorkshire Music Club’s practical session? Visit Jessie’s fund or Yamsen in the market place?

The choices were many….

The performances throughout the day were fantastic and very well received by all

‘Great Performances from Chilli Bon Bon – really enjoyed seeing their film project in the 3Sixty space’

Accessible Arts and Media’s IMPs group (Inclusive Music Project) based in York and East Riding brought along some fantastic interactive presentations as well as joining with Hands and Voices for the final performance.  There were also workshops for young people including: IMPs Singing and Signing; the University of York’s Music Education Group who ran a Music and Movement workshop; and The Sloop Group’s Castaway fleet – crewed by young people with a passion for making noise! These workshops were a fantastic opportunity for young trainee music leaders, disabled and non-disabled, to share their skills and their passion for music making.
