Mouthy Poets is looking for a composer

One composer/ music producer will get the opportunity to score the new show by poetry collective Mouthy Poets. They will receive a £300 fee for their work, as well as mentoring and support.

Mouthy Poets is looking for a composer/producer to write and record snippets of music that will be played between the sections of poetry contained within its latest touring show, and as an overall score for the production.

Exactly what’s required will be agreed with Mouthy Poets once the winner of this brief has been selected, but you’ll be creating a maximum of five minutes of material.

About the tour

Mouthy Poets is touring a truthful show about how love, relationships, politics, gender and everything in between make us stronger. The show will change your perceptions of what poetry is and will include film, music, movement, and collaboration developed with Clare Pollard and John Berkavitch. It will feature regional headliners, hand-picked by Apples & Snakes.

If there isn't vocabulary for our hardship, our experiences – we develop our own. Mouthy Poets is a collective of 50 young people, supporting each other develop and deliver their stories to you.

The tour will stop at seven venues across the UK, and is pending funding for a stop in Germany.

Brief timeline:

20 November – Meet with Mouthy Poets to plan the composition 26 November – Work with Mouthy Poets in Nottingham to apply and edit compositions 27 November – Composition completion date

The brief winner will be able to use editing suite at the Roundhouse on Sunday 30 November.
