XLR Sessions - Moving forward

The XLR musicians move to the next stage of song development

This weeks XLR session at Knowle West Media Centre saw the young people start to develop thei song ideas from the week before. The 3 groups began to develop lyrical ideas, and develop their song structures.

The group working with Bim moved to the live room, and began to record lyrical sketches, and work out everyone's place within the song.

Phoebe's group worked in the newly developed music studio to record in the guitar tracks, and various percussive elements for their song, including glockespeil, shaker and a MIDI drum track. The song is beginning to take structure, and the groups are working brilliantly together.

In addition, the XLR Sessions in the next few weeks will be beginning a campaign to gain instruments for the young musicians to use. Last night they began filming the advert, and they were brilliant! We'll keep you posted on their developments.

Next week we have the amazing lyricist Donnie Numeric coming from Brixton to work with the young people. Donnie is a part of The Delegates Of Rhyme, The Popables, The League Of Awkard men, and has collaborated with numerous artists across the World. He will be developing confidence in the groups lyric writing ideas and helping them to understand how to collaborate through concepts and structures.

Roll on next week!
