Remit and funding arrangements for Youth Music for 2016 onwards

A joint letter from Arts Council England and the National Foundation for Youth Music

We are writing jointly to inform you that Arts Council England is setting up a review of funding for the National Foundation for Youth Music. We wanted you to be aware of this process from the beginning, and to reassure you that funding for Youth Music remains unchanged for the financial year 2014/15 and that the grant will be rolled-over for 2015/16.

The current process is part of a regular cycle by which ACE manages the investments for which it is responsible. Youth Music’s funding was last reviewed in 2011 when its funding status was confirmed for the period 2012-15. The current review - which is being independently led by Professor Derek Aviss, OBE, former Principal of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance - will look at the period beyond April 2016. The review is due to begin in early March 2014, with a report to be delivered by the summer of 2014 for consideration by the National Council of Arts Council England at their meeting in the autumn. We are delighted that Professor Aviss has agreed to lead this work for us.

If you have any questions about this review, please do not hesitate to contact Angela Linton, Operations Director, National Foundation for Youth Music at angela.linton@youthmusic.org.uk or the Arts Council relationship manager with whom you would normally deal.

With best wishes, Yours sincerely
