#VoteForMusic

#VoteForMusic is a campaign kick-started by the hub, with support from Music Venue Trust and The Great Escape, designed to raise awareness of music industry issues during the election campaign. It’s a campaign that Youth Music is pleased to get behind and we'd like to encourage Youth Music Network members to get involved too!

#VoteForMusic does what it says on the tin. Right up till the polls close on 7 May, music fans, musicians and other industry professionals – anyone who cares about music – are being encouraged to cast their vote for the single most pressing issue they want the next government (regardless of its political hue) to address.

Results of the #VoteForMusic campaign will be announced at The Great Escape Festival on 15 May, with a follow up head-to-head debate, featuring senior politicians, at the hub’s One Dayer conference on 1 July.

You can cast your #VoteForMusic using twitter, facebook or Instagram. A bit like the Icebucket Challenge, when you vote you also use your tweet or post to nominate 3 other people to cast their #VoteForMusic too.

Youth Music has already voted (see above). Our CEO Matt Griffiths would ask the next government to help create a musically inclusive England by ensuring that music-making opportunities are available for all children and young people, whatever their background or circumstances.

To help make things as simple as possible, here are some examples of how you might cast your vote…

On twitter (For a text only vote) My #VoteForMusic is [INSERT YOUR VOTE/ISSUE]. What’s yours @person1 @person2 @person3?

On facebook My #VoteForMusic is [INSERT YOUR VOTE/ISSUE]. What’s yours @person1 @person2 @person3?

On Instagram Upload your #VoteForMusic selfie (there are a few examples on this page) and then in the caption box: 'My #VoteForMusic is [INSERT YOUR VOTE/ISSUE].' What's yours @person1 @person2 @person3?

What are you waiting for?! Play your part. Get involved. Make your #VoteForMusic count.
