Meet our new trustees

We are thrilled to welcome Esther Bokuma Lenda and Sasha Mattock as our two new Trustees. They were both selected via Wired4Music as part of our ongoing mission to involve people age 25 and under in Sound Connections governance. Together they bring a wealth of unique experience, which will inform and support Sound Connections into its next phase of development.

Esther is a London born Neo-Soul, RnB and Jazz influenced artist who has been compared to the likes of SZA and Solange by NME. She has been involved in Wired4Music since 2017, co-producing and hosting ‘Rising Futures’ in collaboration with the Roundhouse in 2018, and has also chaired and spoken on a range of panels. Esther is currently studying for her Masters in Music Business Management at the University of Westminster. She said “Sound Connections has supported me so much in my professional development over the past two years, so I’m excited and honoured to be further involved in the decision making and to make a positive impact!”.

Sasha currently works for Islington Special Education Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service as a community engagement and Young People’s worker. As well as this she works as a freelance dance artist for Corali Dance Company and Share, and has just completed a mentee scheme working as a musician at the Royal Brompton and Harefields hospital, a project supported by Sound Connections. On her appointment, Sasha commented, “I am really exited to start my role as a young trustee for Sound Connections as I am passionate about increasing the inclusivity of the music industry for all young people. I am looking forward to learning about how a board of trustees work and can’t wait to get involved.”

Philip Flood, Director, commented: “young people inform everything that Sound Connections does so it is vital that they have a place at the most strategic level of the organisation. I am really looking forward to working with Esther and Sasha over the next 12 months.”
