Crossing Cultures session 4

Folk music

This week we looked at folk music from different cultures. Luckily we have lots of computers at our disposal so it was easy for us to do some research. We looked at folk music from: Pakistan, Poland, England, Ireland and Czech Republic. The research was conclusive and we found that all folk music dealt with the same issues: Psycological, Sociological and Emotional.

With this knowledge we managed to start writing some lyrics down for our song. We looked at what we could write about in those themes above. We started to think about 'our place in society'. 'Do we feel accepted where we live' - How do we feel about it? 

This really got the young people thinking and they told us they would write about what they thought for next week.

After speaking to Lee, he said he was going to write a short song with everything we'd discussed.
