PARTICIPATORY MUSIC WITH VULNERABLE YOUNG PEOPLE WORKING IN PRU’S AND OTHER SETTINGS 

FRIDAY 24TH NOVEMBER, MONKS YARD, ILMINSTER, SOMERSET

AIMED AT: PRU staff and other educational professionals working with vulnerable young people including NEETs, SEND, Music Leaders, Policy Makers and Funders.

COST: Somerset practitioners – free of charge. Other attendees: £30 to include lunch

10.30am – 12.00am: Welcome and Panel Presentations followed by Questions

  • Tamsin Mendelsohn, Relationship Manager, Music Education Hubs, Arts Council of England South West Office (Hopefully TBC) - music hubs and the role of working with vulnerable young people
  • Zoe Kilb, Grants & Learning Officer, Youth Music – research findings, impact and priority areas relating to vulnerable young people at risk
  • Helen Reid, Music & Arts Executive Officer, Sound Foundation Somerset, Somerset Music Education Hub – its approach to working with vulnerable young people
  • Jo Simons, Headteacher, South Somerset Partnership College - the value of music within the overall education context
  • PRU Staff Member (TBC) – response from someone working directly with young people
  • Nick Brace, Artistic Director & Music Leader, Actiontrack – relevance and effectiveness of working through music with young people

2.30pm - 3.30pm: Approaches to PRU/Vulnerable CYP and Music Hubs in other geographic areas and to cover attainment options, virtual music provision and working with Children in Care followed by Questions
