A Sound Connection: Reflections on our first year of the project

During Autumn 2016, Chuckle Productions concluded the first year of it Sound Connection Project funding by Youth Music. The Chuckle team also received confirmation that Youth Music was to continue supporting the project for a further year!

We are so excited to be able to continue this music based project for children and young adults with profound and multiple needs (“PLMD”) given the positive outcomes that the Chuckle team observed from the first year of the project:

  • An average of 45% improvement in children being able to interact with people/objects.
  • An average of 45% improvement in children’s play skills, particularly in music.

Importantly parents and guardians also saw tangible positive outcomes from our project with an average increase of over 30% in interaction with people, objects and musical instruments from their child. As we head into the New Year, we are pleased to report that the Sound Connection Project continues to provide an independent music based hobby for children with PMLD, an opportunity for them to express themselves through music and movement and an environment to support their continued growth in interaction with those around them.

From everyone at Chuckle Productions and our Sound Connection Project we wish you all a very happy and musical New Year.
