Wired4Music’s Big Meet-Up

On Tuesday 12 July 2016 Wired4Music, in partnership with the General London Authority (GLA) Peer Outreach Team, held the Big Meet-Up in London’s Living Room at City Hall; a brilliant evening of networking and guest talks that saw over fifty young people and music organisations come together to celebrate what’s great about London’s music offer, and to challenge what’s not.

We heard all about the amazing journeys of guest speakers Gawain Hewitt and Nikita Chauhan, and the topics of conversation during networking ranged from favourite gigs to opportunities for women in the music industry. Wired4Music hosts Adem and Kaisle went down a storm; facilitating discussions expertly and demonstrating once again how warm and welcoming the Wired network is. The GLA team facilitated a whole group discussion on hopes for the Mayor which prompted some impassioned ideas from our guests, and catering, provided by a young member of the Peer Outreach Team, had everyone licking their lips as they tucked into Korean chicken and plantain sliders. It was wonderful to see so many young people feel comfortable and at ease enough to share their opinions at such an iconic venue and our thanks go to City Hall and the GLA for hosting us, we hope to work with them again in the near future.
