Saturday Music School

Leeds College of Music’s Saturday Music School offers an environment for young aspiring musicians from city centre Leeds and the wider regions to work with some of the country's leading musicians and practitioners in Jazz, pop and classical genres to develop their instrumental skills, musical knowledge and performance experience.

Leeds College of Music’s Saturday Music School is a community project devised to engage with and inspire young people aged 9 – 18. Across its 30 week term students take part in ensemble coaching, group instrumental tuition and work with leading session musicians as part of its workshop and masterclass programme. The school also delivers regular performance projects such as its recent Township Choir Concert at Leeds Town Hall on 1st November 2011 with the Mbawula project. To broaden inclusivity the SMS welcomes musicians from any area of the community and, due to a £5,000 contribution from Leeds College of Music, is proud to offer bursaries to around 14% of its students.
