Welcome to the latest Sound Connections e-newsletter. As we say hello to Autumn and wave goodbye to a memorable Summer, we look forward to celebrating 10 years of Sound Connections with our special 'Would Like to Meet...' networking event in November. We also include details of our seminar on Music Education Hubs, an upcoming Early Years INSET session, our young ambassadors partnership with Rich Mix, the next 'Start Up!' session, and opportunities and jobs across the sector.

Early Years INSET: What does a child’s musical day look like? Sound Connections and THAMES present a twilight INSET session on Monday 24 September, looking at how we can best support all childrens' musical learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Focussing on the findings from a project that saw early years practitioners and musicians working together with four Children’s Centres in Tower Hamlets, the INSET will use video footage, discussion and practical activity. Rich Mix Young Ambassadors Scheme Sound Connections is delighted to be partnering with the Rich Mix team to develop an exciting new programme which puts young people at the heart of programming and events. Rich Mix is now recruiting young people aged 16-21 to join the ambassador team - the deadline for applications is Friday 28 September. Find out more and apply

Sound Connections & The MU present: What do Music Education Hubs mean for me? Sound Connections and the Musicians' Union invite you to spend the day with us on Tuesday 30 October to answer this and many other questions around the new music education landscape. Music in schools: promoting good practice Following on from their "Music in Schools" report in March 2012, OFSTED have released "Music in Schools: promoting good practice" - professional development materials to promote dialogue between music teachers, headteachers and music hub leaders. Out and About Over the last fortnight we have met with Attitude is Everything, Rich Mix, Deutsche Bank, Sing Up, Beggars Group, Roundhouse, Music for Youth, CM, Arts Council England and Making Music, attended the AYM Progression meeting in Birmingham, Early Arts Roundtable at the London Early Years Foundation, Rich Mix season launch, London Jazz Festival launch, Young Londoners Participation Network's seminar and Kuumba's Advance Network at City Hall, and spent a day at No.10 Downing Street work-shadowing in the Prime Minister's Office.
