Bronze Arts Award: contribute to the Youth Music Network resource

The Youth Music Network team are creating a resource for music-making projects planning to support young people to complete the Arts Award qualification. Have you undertaken a Bronze Arts Award?

The Youth Music Network team are working with Arts Award to create a new resource, specifically designed to help music education organisations to plan for and complete the Bronze Arts Award. It will give you example activities, case studies, and advice on how to build it into a Youth Music funding application.

Arts Award inspires young people to develop their arts and leadership talents: it's creative, valuable and accessible. An increasing number of music organisations are using Arts Award as a means of accrediting young people’s progress in music and arts related activities.

Many of the activities required to complete the Bronze Arts Award are ones you will already be doing as part of your music project. With prior planning, you can easily build it into your project, giving the young people taking part a recognisable and transferable accreditation to mark their achievements.

Has your project completed a Bronze Arts Award, or are you in the middle of one? We'd like your input into the resource. Do get in touch and let me know:

  • what you wish you'd known at the beginning of the project
  • how much time it took you and how long you would allow from start to finish
  • what challenges you've faced
  • which activities have worked well
  • ways in which the young people have created their portfolios
  • your top tips for other organisations delivering an Arts Award.

Do share your thoughts in the comments below. The resource will be published later this summer.

If you have any photos, videos, tracks or case studies which you'd be happy to have included in the resource, it would be fantastic if you could send me those via my profile link or by emailing network@youthmusic.org.uk.
