Shining Stars Radio Broadcast/Podcast

10/09/19 To date we have had 20 young people attending various sessions; on average (8 sessions) there have been 7 young people in attendance. Young people continue to identify roles and add to the content; they practice their skills in DJing, playing musical instruments and using the computer programme. Individuals have been allocated tasks to do in between sessions. When at the Hive when they are not ‘practicing’; staff and peer supporters help them with research and preparing their interviewing/presenting skills. Two young people are not confident enough to join the group at present; time outside of the group is being provided to support their part in the project, one as an interviewee and the other is carrying out background research.

We had a guided Tour around the Radio Shropshire Studio, young people found the visit interesting and asked questions they had prepared before arriving.

Introduction to Genre, this is an ongoing exercise identifying which genre songs/music fit into; this is delivered by sharing a selection of ways that we listen to music i.e. records, cd’s and modern technology; music shared has ranged from 60’s to present day; the exercise will be carried through to the end of the project. Young people are now aware of the different categories of music; they may say they do not like many of the earlier years music and are reluctant to listen although one young person recognised and acknowledged the musician/singer’s talent and skill.
