Story telling as we story tell.

Story telling as we story tell.

As this story telling week comes to an end, I felt inspired to write a poem about the importance of story telling, and how it is a part of us as humans.

I then decided to document a day in the life of a London Musical Beacon, by taking quick snippets of my journey throughout the day at the Paradox Centre and Langthorne Park- These are two community centres where me and a lovely team from Soundcastle run our musical beacons sessions, where we play music and engage with families from the local community.

I took the poetry and the video and then put it all together with a happy tune at the end. :)

In short, this AV poetry piece speaks to the importance of story telling and how it benefits us as a community.

Stories inspire us get our creative brains working.

Story telling is a primal way of communication and building trust, as it is ingrained in us as humans.

Sharing of information with a hint of creative input from each individual to the next as the stories are told, is what makes story telling unique and vital to us all.

---------------

Stories that move,

stories that tell,

stories that do to us,

what we seek in life,

as we journey and trip,

as tripping is fine.

Stories that take me and you Into the unknown,

with plenty of room for conquering fear,

of problems that haven’t yet shown.

Stories that build,

stories that crumble.

As we break the lid,

off of the sealed box,

of infinite possibilities within us,

allow us to stumble.

Stories that take over our existence,

and pulls us out of the momentary for a moment,

as we listen.

Food for thought as we fight for food,

stories that hurt when words taste rude.

Through time it stands,

in different ears,

differ as they land.

Choose not to engage,

some, you won’t comprehend.

For Better or worse, stories we’ll tell,

as we build the universe,

our sharing of self.
