Survival

At the beginning of this year Sloop Group performed for the second time at Let's Rock, an annual event held at Bridlington Spa. The piece which the group composed for the gig, Survival, has been performed many times since and has now been recorded. Composed over the course of a term of Saturday morning sessions, the peice offers an idea of the level of musical sophistication that can be reached when a group of such talented young musicians work together. The method used to compose such a complex peice of music as a group was that indivuduals or small groups worked on small ideas or cells of music, using the same starting point- G minor. Once we had several solid musical ideas, the group came together and the process of aranging or constructing the peice began. We invite you to listen, and enjoy!
