About

I am an ambitious second year student at Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies. The course I currently study focuses on the set up and control of sound and lighting equipment. However, due to their industry connections, I have been able to gain experience in my preferred areas of interest, those being stage management and artist liaison. I strive to make each event I contribute to a success by supporting every area of the event; for example, at Radfest 2017, I was the stage manager, yet I managed to aid the sound and lighting crews during set up and pack down.

Experience

At Splendour 2017 I was part of the confetti crew and did artist liaison. I was responsible for taking artists from the acoustic stage to the confetti stage for their interviews. I also assisted in the pack down and set up of various artists when I was needed.

At Radfest I was the stage manager. During the event I was responsible for taking artists to and from the social area and backstage, making sure the sound technicians knew what artists were next and what needed to be set up during changes and making sure the event ran to schedule. Pre-event I assisted the sound and lighting crew with set up of equipment as well as this I assisted the artist liaison in making phone calls to the artists to ensure that they would be on time and that the equipment list we had is correct.

I am the backline technician for the band Black Cats and Magpies. I attend all of their shows and rehearsals and am responsible for the set-up and pack down of the drums, bass amp and guitar amps. During set up I work with the FOH engineer to ensure that they have been miked up correctly and that the bands channel list has been followed. During the show I work with the front of house engineer to ensure the band has their desired sound as well as fixing any problems that may occur on stage such as broken strings.

For Confetti’s 2017 Christmas party I was the Production manager. My responsibilities pre event were communicating with everyone in the production team to ensure they complete the necessary documents such as channel lists, risk assessments and stage plots as well as staying in communication with the marketing team via email so that the event was advertised appropriately and successfully. I also had to have meetings with Craig Chettle the managing director of Confetti to discuss budgeting and event themes.

I was a technical crew member at Hockley Hustle. I was responsible for moving equipment to venues before the event and assisted bands in taking their equipment to and from the venue that they were playing at. I worked with backline technicians and front of house engineers in the set-up of stages, instruments and microphones. Once the event had finished I was responsible for correctly packing down equipment and making sure it was transported safely to the holding room.

During my 2 years at Confetti I have taken advantage of as many opportunities as possible. I have assisted with many events for the performance students such as their final show in the Rough Trade Nottingham. I was the technical manager for the performance students showcase. I was responsible for ensuring the technical crew completed the needed documents for the production pack. I oversaw the set up and pack down of equipment; making sure it was done safely and correctly. I was also chosen to assist in the control and pack down of sound equipment during the degree showcase. An event at which the Vice Chancellor of the Nottingham Trent University came to look at the facilities that Confetti has and watch performance students that are going to progress onto university perform.
