Innovative music and arts education leader with strong track record in strategic, creative and delivery work across the country and in a variety of settings & contexts.

I left Youth Music and role of Director of Programmes following launch of Youth Music Programme and restructure of the organisation.

I am currently working freelance andwith a variety of organisations and initiatives and, in particular, have much real experience and advice to offer those who are engaging with and embracing new and emerging landscapes. 

I draw upon my experience of a significant range of roles over a period of significant change - from a leadership role in a national charity and funding body, places at the tables of several national organisations and initiatives, the strategic leadership of commissioning, 'membership' and delivery organisations to real experience of grass roots in the classroom / community delivery.

I can:

  • Support staff and teams but also challenge them, help them extend their terms of reference and find new ideas and ‘space’.
  • Find balance between the priorities of policy and funders with those of the organisation and its particular clients.
  • Broker and support the development of partnerships between organisations within or across sectors.
  • Work with organisations to think and explore but then to formulate and deliver meaningful and realistic plans.
  • Help to shape programmes that deliver impact, have credibility and are sustainable.

 

Things I can offer include (but are not limited to):

  • Visioning - a range of interventions that can help organisations and their staff find a  well grounded future vision / position in a changing landscape.

  • Planning and embedding change - mapping out realistic routes to your vision, considering the variables and obstacles -  drawing on my recent experience in contributing to the National Plan for Music Education and Music Manifesto, the restructure of organisations and the 'redesign' of organisations' programmes.
  • Governance  - Identifying needs for, and recruitment of Trustees / Board Members Advisors

  • Facilitation / 'Chairing' - of discussion between (potential) partner organisations, staff teams , staff and management, peer and competitor organisations.
