About

Hi, I'm Will. You can find me traveling the world but mainly in Northern Yorkshire as a musician, producer, video creator, youth worker, community leader, busker and in the middle of whatever else is happening in the Boro.

Below is a list of some of my experiences, goals and ambitions.

I am a self-taught musician who got involved in music production when I was a youngster playing around on the Playstation console game aptly titled Music, then the second version, Music 2000.

I taught myself guitar at the age of 18 and I am still learning. I learned mostly from tabs of songs I like and spent many days locked up in my bedroom practising. I come from both a typical council estate in Middlesbrough and Romany Gypsy backgrounds, so I know what its like to be stereotyped and stigmatised. I have found that applying this personal experience is extremely helpful in relating to different groups of young people who come from various socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.

One of my goals is to make the world a better place than when I first found it. After years of working in the telecommunications industry, I transitioned from a BT engineer to a community music leader after pursuing music as a passion, volunteer and sound engineer.

In 2015 I started a company called Music Saves The World. At MSTW, I collaborate with musinc Teesside and have been very fortunate to work with such an inspiring collective network. Through musinc Teesside, I have undergone my Arts Award training and have been offered many other great opportunities with regards community music development, including completing a level 2 ABC youth work qualification.

I would like to develop Music Saves The World into a community hub that places music tuition, capture, performance and personal development at the core of its goals.

I am a member of the Musicians Union and also produce music and promote live music in the Teesside area using the Music Saves The World banner.

Besides a passion for music, I am also an avid reader, social organiser and keen rambler and explorer of the world.
