Additional Learning Needs in Wales: priorities for shaping, implementing and monitoring the ALN Code
Event description
This seminar is bringing together key policymakers and stakeholders to discuss the development and implementation of the Additional Learning Needs Code - focusing on governance, funding and regulation.
It is timed as the Welsh Government conducts its public consultation into the ALN Code which will set out procedure and best practice - including for disagreement resolution, increased collaboration and remits of responsibility. It also comes as an independent member’s Bill on autism, which will expand on the Welsh Government’s autism strategy, secures leave to proceed.
Delegates will discuss the implications of key measures from the Welsh Government’s Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act that sets out the legislative framework for ALN service delivery in Wales, including the ALN Transformation Programme which creates a unified system of ALN provision.
Those attending will also consider the potential challenges for implementing the code, with reference to the expected publication of a transition guide for consultation - including the timetable for training and delivery, overcoming the potential barriers to effective service delivery and providing the necessary funding and governance to drive change - as well as its potential impact on the inspection of ALN provision.
