Circle of Light/ Light Hustle Charity Live Stream for Nottingham Artists

On 4th April 2020, Circle of Light joined forces with local festival Hockley Hustle to produce a charity live stream event. What was initially intended as an all-day gig for Give a Gig week, but due to current circumstances the plan was made to live stream the event as a fundraiser of the local creative sector. With almost 30,000 viewers, over £5000 (and this is still increasing!) has been raised for a hardship fund for local artists. The live stream featured participants of the Circle of Light project, alongside other local musicians. With big names such as Jake Bugg and Sheku Kanneh-Mason joining the line up and local press attention, the event was a huge success and showcased the generosity and support of people all around the world.

Organiser Tricia Gardiner said: “It was an incredible achievement and I feel honoured to have been part of it. The Youth Music funding enabled us to put on this wonderful online festival that had an unbelievable reach. Not only did it provide a platform for Nottingham’s emerging and established artists but it also connected people from around the world demonstrating the need to feel connected during this time of uncertainty. I have been inundated with people sending messages of thanks and expressing how important the event had been and what a difference it made to their day. Please continue to donate as the crisis is by no means over and thank you to the people who have already donated as it will make a real difference.”
