Decolonising the Music Curriculum

We would really recommend watching this YouTube video of an online conference that was streamed on 13th May 2020. The first speaker is Nate Holder, an advocate for decolonising music education. Other speakers include Pran Patel and Michelle McCauley and many more.

It's up to all of us to examine the biases that we have and to try and educate our children on the influence of colonisation on music and be aware of the power structures and oppression that led to this.
