Connect: Resound 2016 Gathering
Event description
NYMAZ Remote Music Learning Network Connect: Resound Gathering Wednesday 29 June 2016 York St John University, York
- How can technology increase access to music education opportunities for children and young people facing geographic and other barriers? Can young people have a rich, high quality experience of instrumental education and music in performance online?
Purpose The first ever Connect: Resound Gathering will be held on 29 June 2016. The event is intended for anyone with an interest in delivering music education online, from instrumental lessons delivered over the internet, to live broadcasts of music performance.
The Gathering will showcase projects from across the UK which are exploring ways of using online technology to reach children and young people who may have limited access to music education opportunities, for instance those living in rural areas. The event will also provide opportunities to share practice and skills, discuss approaches, explore different technologies and applications and to discover new ways of providing more children and young people with music education opportunities.
The event will be of interest to Music Hub managers and staff, music and non-music teachers, music leaders and practitioners, researchers, funders, policymakers and other interested parties across all areas of arts and music education and uses of technology in the arts.
The programme will include sessions exploring:
- Teaching instruments online - pedagogical issues, technical challenges and solutions, ensuring quality - Partnership building - how can technologists, music leaders, teachers and learners work together to develop new opportunities for online music education? - Live music broadcasts - how can music hubs, music education organisations, venues and promoters enable more young people to access music performance online? - Funding and resources for online music education - Technical approaches and solutions
