Jazz Foundations Group Sessions Spring 2016

Event description

Under the direction of saxophone legend Munch Manship this long running and popular jazz group continues its exploration of the jazz repertoire for another ten sessions plus a full evening performance on Sunday 3 April 2016 at Band on the Wall.

Jazz Foundations offers a chance to blow through and rehearse new arrangements of great compositions in a mixture of jazz styles. Our specially devised and arranged charts are adapted to suit any instrumentation and offer solo opportunities for all the group. New members welcome, all ages and instruments. Some reading skills are necessary for horn players and keyboards and would be useful (but not essential) for bass, guitar and drums.

We now offer TWO Thursday Jazz Foundations sessions.

6.15-7.45pm: Beginners

8-9.30pm: Intermediate / Advanced

The course is an enjoyable learning experience where musicians who enjoy jazz come together to learn and practice the skills needed to improve their playing.

Beginners are players who have little or no experience of playing jazz styles or improvisation and want to build confidence and learn basic chart reading and ensemble skills.

Intermediate / Advanced players are those who have been playing jazz for more than two years, are confident readers and have reached a moderate standard of playing.
