Music and Autism Training

Event description

The day will be facilitated by London-based Music Therapist Tina Pinder who has worked in community music and health settings for over seventeen years.  Tina’s professional history is as impressive as it is extensive, including work with Sound Connections, Drake Music, Sing Up, London Philharmonic Orchestra as head SEN Workshop Leader, mainstream and SEND schools, international organisations and psychiatric hospitals.

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability.  It affects how a person experiences the world around them, and how they communicate with and relate to others.

This training will provide:

  • An understanding of autism as a spectrum disorder, including range of presented characteristics and neurology behind these
  • Guidance around how to adapt the learning environment to promote engagement and social interaction
  • Fun song-writing and composition workshops, including adaptations for the more profoundly autistic
  • Tips on how to create your own bespoke musical resources
