Research Evaluation Songbirds Craft Session Live Music performed by the CMFT Songbirds Team

Lead project musicians Ros Hawley and Mark Fisher have worked with children, families and staff on a two year residency funded by Youth Music and supported by CMFT, delivering weekly live music sessions to children who have long term health conditions, as an aid to their process of rehabilitation and recovery.

Our culmination celebrates all the music made with the children, families and staff over the last two years. Music composed by the musicians and inspired by the children will be performed and a film commission by Hafsah Naib will be shown.

Findings from a forthcoming project evaluation, commissioned by Lime Music for Health as part of the project, and carried out by Salford University's School of Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work & Social Sciences research will also be shared.

As part of the project, every family who has worked with Ros and Mark will receive a specially composed CD, featuring a children's story, A Songbird's Tale, and music, all inspired by and written for the children who made music on the wards during the residency.

We warmly invite you to come along, meet the musicians and find out more about our Songbirds programme, our work with the Salford team, and celebrate 2 years of music making with inspirational children, families and staff at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
