FERMYNWOODSTOCK

A student DJs with artist James Steventon

Fermynwoods Contemporary Art has been working with The Complementary Education Academy for ten years, bringing arts programming to students who have been excluded from mainstream education. Or, rather, we bring the students to the arts, using our site at Sudborough Green Lodge, deep in Fermyn Woods, for workshops.

It's the end of the school year and we couldn't be prouder of our students for working so hard to make our Fermynwoodstock festival a success. We were lucky with the weather and grateful for the amazing lineup of artists who helped students produce performances, recordings, sound machines, and videos for the festival - David Birchall, Michele Catania, Andy Eathorne, Stevie Jones, Daniel Johnson, Rebecca Lee, Martin Steed and James Steventon.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming some special guests, including researchers from the University of Northampton, teachers from The CE Academy and two of our former students, revisiting our educational site and being amazing role models for the younger kids. It's a good reminder, as we say good-bye to students who will be moving on, that the experiences they have at Fermynwoods will remain with them for a long time. Or, as one student said, "All the times I've complained, and now I can't believe I have to leave!"
