Call-out for talented young musicians. Applications open until 31 March!

Launched in 2018 to provide a progression route for some of the UK’s most talented young disabled musicians, the National Open Youth Orchestra is the world’s first inclusive national youth orchestra. It’s for disabled and non-disabled young musicians who can demonstrate musical potential and the ability to persevere towards musical excellence.

We train in London in partnership with the Barbican and Guildhall School of Music and Drama and in the South-West (Bristol and Bournemouth), in partnership with Bristol Music Trust, the National Centre for Inclusive Excellence and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Young musicians (11-25-year-olds) can apply for an audition until 31 March, for a September 2019 start. 

In London, we're inviting applications from young musicians who play or are interested in learning the Clarion, which includes young people who already use assistive technology or a communication aid (such as an EyeGaze computer) to a standard that could translate to playing the Clarion. We're also interested in hearing from young musicians who play strings, woodwind or brass.

In Bristol, we're seeking musicians on strings, woodwind, guitar, live electronic instruments (including the Clarion) and brass instruments. We’re particularly keen to receive applications from bass players (whether strings, woodwind or electronic).

In Bournemouth, we're seeking young musicians who play acoustic instruments.
