Nature of the CC Sub-group

Missy Mills of Soundhub raises a question over the focus of the newly created challenging circumstances group for Kent.

"After mulling things over for a while, and looking at the items for discussion at the next meeting, it seems that there are two separate aims for the group; strategic and practical.

I feel that perhaps these should be separated.  It is important for Soundhub to have a clear strategy for engaging with young people in challenging circumstances in Kent, we are tasked with touching every child, and we’d very much like to do this as a unified group.

It also feels important that if there is to be ‘joined up’ working in its truest sense, then there is a need for providers/practitioners in this area to meet to discuss need, funding, methodologies, personnel etc.

Therefore, I’d like to suggest we maintain two groups for this area. The first is a strategic group, that works together to create a unified strategy for Kent, seeking to engage ALL young people, both in and out of schools.

The second group is a provider/practitioner group, where more tangible matters about day-to-day work in this area can be brought together in communities of practice.

These two groups can meet at once, to conserve time, or independently.

I’d very much welcome your feedback on this idea, we are very keen to begin moving things forward."
