Introduction
The Benedetti Foundation is looking for a highly motivated, proactive and organised person to join our team. We are seeking a committed individual with previous experience in operations and events management and a strong interest in music education. In this role you will build upon current processes to manage and deliver The Benedetti Foundation’s broad portfolio of educational programmes and wider operational activities, as well as progressing improvements within current operations.
Programmes include live, mass-music making Sessions for both children and adults; Residencies delivered in partnership with music services around the UK; online programmes; and a year-long training programme for student Ambassadors to explore what music teaching can look like at its best.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to shaping the future of The Benedetti Foundation over a fixed period, at a time of significant organisational development and transition with a new, incoming Chief Executive.
Purpose of the Role
To work closely with the Interim Director, incoming Chief Executive, and wider team to ensure high quality, effective procedures, processes and operational and administrative functions are embedded and followed to maximise the success of the Benedetti Foundation’s work. The role involves project management of all of the organisation’s Programmes, with operational support from the Operations Officer and artistic contribution from the incoming Artistic Manager.

Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the Operations Manager (Maternity Cover) will include:
Programme Operations Management
- manage the preparation and delivery of all of the Foundation's Programmes, with support from the Operations Officer (see Programme Summary in application pack)
- attending key sessions and project activity, overseeing on-the-ground operational elements and event-managing large scale activity (i.e. Benedetti Sessions)
- work with the Chief Executive and incoming Artistic Manager on the scheduling of programmes and the logistics of our touring events
- lead on the contracting of our freelance staff teams
Organisational Operations Management
- develop high quality operational policies, procedures and structures, ensuring smooth, efficient processes which maximise the impact of our work
- review and develop current systems supporting the Foundation's operations and administration
- lead on the implementation and training of staff to use new systems
Team Management
- line manage the Operations Officer and Ambassador Programme Assistant
- act as Contracting Manager to retained freelancers i.e. Head of Youth Ambassador Programme (0.1 FTE); Head of String Teacher Development (0.2 FTE)
- support with the recruitment and onboarding of new team members
- oversee the management and development of pastoral and volunteer teams for the Benedetti Sessions including recruitment, support and training
Other
- act as the organisation’s Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO), ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies, overseeing staff training, overseeing DBS/PVG processes, managing safeguarding incidents and maintaining accurate records, and regularly reviewing procedures to align with the latest legal requirements and best practices
- act as Health and Safety lead at an organisational level, as well as for the Foundation's events including overseeing the creation of risk assessments
- act as Data Protection Officer including ensuring accurate information is collected, maintained and removed when appropriate
- work with the Development Team to support with the implementation of evaluation frameworks and systems, ensuring participant feedback systems are maintained and reviewed
- attend board meetings and work with the Chief Executive to prepare reports on key operational areas (e.g. safeguarding/child protection, health and safety, volunteers etc) for Board meetings where necessary
- handle organisational asset management including collating records and developing the tracking system
- undertake day-to-day operational (and, where needed, administrative) tasks

Salary: £40-45,000 dependent on experience
Location: Remote with regular UK travel
