An Insight Into Our New ‘ReCharge: Creative Digital Skills’ Project
We caught up with project manager Antonio Della Mura who gives us some more information about the project.
What Is The Project About? What Are The Aims?
ReCharge is a series of free online creative digital skills training sessions focused on delivering free software and hardware skills such as Music Production, DJing, Podcasting, Radio Production, Photography, Videography, Journalism and Design to students aged between 12-19 years of age.
Who Is Involved?
When developing ReCharge, we made a point of recruiting tutors and guest speakers who are active within their respective industries. To date we have had tutors such as Carly Wilford, a well respected radio host, DJ and podcaster, J-Fresh, an established DJ and producer and celebrated photographer Meara Kallista Morse. As well as industry professional tutors, we have also hosted a number of industry professional guest speakers such as Radio 1 DJ & presenter Arielle Free, photographer Chloe Newman, producer Dots Per Inch, Magic FM breakfast radio producer and DJ Kay-Lee Golding, producer and podcaster Shan McGinley and Rinse FM presenter/DJ SK Vibemaker.
What’s The Story Of The Projects Journey So Far?
ReCharge was developed as a direct response to the current Pandemic, we felt despite the limitations of social contact, Community Music could still provide digital skills and career advice via web based sessions delivered and hosted by genuine media industry professionals.
Where Is It Based?
ReCharge sessions are currently delivered online via Zoom.
What Does A General Session Look Like?
ReCharge sessions generally last for two hours with lead tutors guiding proceedings along, students partake in Q&A sessions with industry professional guests such as Radio 1’s Arielle Free for instance who answered various questions asked by students on radio based presenting skills and interview skills. Tutors, guest speakers and students will also share examples of their work via Zoom, various software and hardware skills are also taught including free music production and editing based software, maintaining software that is taught is free and easy for students to access.
When Do The Sessions Take Place?
ReCharge sessions take place on a regular weekly basis, current sessions take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
