Jack's story about the impact of Rhythmix!
We met Jack two years ago when he first attended Rhythmix Music in Mind sessions at the Roomz in Hastings, after having been referred to us by the Early Intervention Service. Jack came to the sessions with a strong musical background. Despite his skills, Jack initially showed a lack of self confidence. As the group developed Jack was given the opportunity to peer mentor new people joining due to his considerable musical knowledge. Throughout his time at the sessions, Jack's confidence has continued to increase.
Jack has achieved a huge amount during his time with Rhythmix. He has completed a Bronze Arts Award, helped run a public music event in Hastings and completed an audio engineering course. Jack has now taken the next step and will soon be a trainee Music Leader on our Make Waves programme, helping transform the lives of young people through the power of music.
Music in Mind uses the power of music to enhance life chances and offer tangible help to young people with mental health problems. We work with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services across the South East to bring music to young people with mental health problems.
