Open School Orchestra 2014-15 Final Report

A report from OpenUp Music documenting the second year of our groundbreaking Open School Orchestra program.

Another academic year starts and with it all of the excitment and potential that another year brings. At OpenUp Music we are launching a host of exciting new projects including the development of a new musical instrument that can be played using any part of the body (including the eyes) and the launch of the South-West Open Youth Orchestra, the UK's first disabled-led regional youth orchestra. This year we are also moving into the third-year of our groundbreaking Open School Orchestra program, a body of work that has so far established 6 special school orchestras in the South-West of England.

But exciting times like these are also opportunities to look back and take stock of what we've done and what we've learnt - something that is essential if we are to progress effectively. We spent a lot of time over the summer reflecting on our Open School Orchestra work from last year and compiling it into a final report that we hope some of you might find interesting. There is a wealth of information contained within its pages alongside loads of wonderful pictures of our musicians playing at the Fast Forward Music Festival back in July.
