Adventures of our teenage bands

We're feeling very excited about the progress of the young bands involved in CME's Accelerator project. Our project offers 13 to 18 year olds supported rehearsals, band coaching, recording, video making and lots more. Read on to find out more about our bands' adventures over the last couple of months....

THE RUMBLE, a young three piece from Norwich, performed live with the BBC Concert Orchestra at MusicMix Live 2014 in Great Yarmouth. In the run up to the event they attended a bespoke vocal coaching session with CME to help them nail those harmonies. All agreed they gave a brilliant performance on the day, and the band said it was a fantastic experience.

LET'S EAT GRANDMA were among five Accelerator bands who filmed live videos at Epic Studios in Norwich. Each band was filmed performing three or four songs in the former Anglia TV studio. The footage was professionally edited by the Epic crew. Not only was it a valuable learning experience, the bands now have a high quality live demo to promote their music.

AMAZON BLU, three girls aged 14 and 15 in Norwich, recorded two original songs with local producer Dan Hopkinson. The band formed one year ago and attend supported rehearsals every Friday. They've already had airplay on John Kennedy's XFM show and they've played live on Future Radio in Norwich.

THE MONDEGREENS, a band who have been playing together since they attended CME rock schools when they were in primary school, were one of four of our bands who attended the regional the Music For Youth festival in Norwich, gaining some constuctive and insightful feedback from mentors on the day.

We're recruiting new young people to the project at our Easter Rock School which takes place at Access to Music on 16-17 April 2014.The two-day course includes a 90-minute Rough Guide to the Music Industry with Andy Ellis, education and outreach manager for PRS for Music
