Using music and singing as an important tool for building early communication skills
I wanted to share some recordings and a blog written by one of our Early Years Music Leaders, Lindsay Ibbotson, for Earlyarts.
Lindsay has been delivering a project for NYMAZ called 'Music for Two', weekly parent and young child music sessions at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, the biggest British Army training base in the world. With a large number of families moving in and out of the Garrison throughout 2015, the sessions have provided opportunities for peer interaction, support, familiarity and continuity for the families of military personel, who live in a transient community and can be separated from family members during times of deployment.
Lindsay has written a fantastic blog about using music as a tool for building early communication skills, which you can read on the Earlyarts website here.
Some short audio clips from one of her Music for Two session were recently captured, too:
If you have any comments or responses to the blog or audio recordings, do leave a comment and I'd be happy to pass them on to Lindsay.
'Music for Two' is delivered in partnership with the Army Welfare Service, and funded by the National Foundation for Youth Music as part of the NYMAZ Youth Music programme for North Yorkshire.
