I Am Here!! Goes International

Musiko Musika’s Joint Artistic Directors, Mauricio Venegas-Astorga and Rachel Pantin led a Musiko Musika team on a visit to Chile over Easter to deliver a five day training programme for 22 primary school English language teachers in Coronel.

The aim of the training was to enable the teachers to implement the I Am Here!! songs and activities as part of their teaching of English as a foreign language. Helen Ayres, the speech and language consultant for the project I Am Here!!, Laura Venegas and Willy Fuica worked with Mauricio and Rachel to deliver a comprehensive course that covered the practical as well as the underlying pedagogical principles of the programme. The teachers loved working with the songs, and found the interactive and creative approach of the activities for each song very accessible, with great potential to motivate and engage their students, and as a result improve  their learning.
