Listen out for LYVE

As an artist I am duty bound to take risks, to experiment and investigate new ways of working

As a musician I am always searching for new sounds and am excited at bringing people together to play. As a producer I am challenged by partnerships development and creating complex patterns of activity. As a person I love watching people change, explore, laugh and interact.

The project that we launch this Spring is engaging all of my skills and interests. With funding from Youth Music and within the context of the Lancashire Music Hub we are going to create LYVE - The Lancashire Youth Vocal Ensemble.

It will be an inclusive choir incorporating a variety of styles, approaches and voices and developing, what I hope will be, a new sound.

LYVE will be led by a team of singing leaders who represent a wide variety of interest including Emma Williams (pop/soul), Joe Martin (musical theatre), Ailsa Nicholson (Natural Voice Network), Dr Madhu Tanjorkar (classical and popular Indian vocals), Ashley Murphy (beatboxing and words) and Steve Lewis (complex SEN vocal work and improvisation). In support roles for More Music we have Rick Middleton as our project manager and Rachel Parsons devising the Arts Award framework.

And the music … we have experimented with our singers and also a group of 8 young Singing Ambassadors and the sound is beautiful. We have a repertoire to start with that touches many bases and it will develop and get better. Over the next 6 weeks 18 sessions across the county will give young people a first chance to engage with the project and then… listen out for LYVE…
